I am a worm. As I crawl back into the dirt I and hide I can feel the vibration of the earth. Who are these people what are they doing going back and forth from each other’s trenches. I see these planes that are flying over and bombs drops from them and makes the world vibrate. I crawl back above the surface and all these people are running back and forth and are dropping to the ground. This must not feel good to them. Piles of red liquid are everywhere. I am really not sure what is happening. I am getting very scared; I am almost getting stepped on. Oh no! My brother! As a bomb hits the land he gets shot up into the sky and lands inside the barrel of the gun. The gun is shot and he goes flying into a person. I am wiggling and panicking I am not sure what to do. I am scared to death. So I guess I am in a trench now? A lot of people are in here and it’s in a zigzag. These people have spikes on their helmets. Every one is ducking as artillery is being fired at the trenches. Bodies are flying into the sky and are ripping apart. The trench is falling apart and mud is entering the trenches, as people are trying to escape more mud flows into the trenches and people are stuck in the mud, drowning, getting sucked into it. The light blue coats the French I guess are entering into the trench. They did not see all the mud and a few fall into the mud. I crawl through the dirt, as it gets very wet. Boom! Another bomb hits the trench, I quickly dig as deep as I can and then make a sharp right turn. I think I am safe now. I am going to rest. I wake up to the Earth vibrating. I get to the top only to see that the Earth is destroyed. Holes are everywhere and there are a ton of bodies in just spread out on the land. Why would these people do this fighting over land when they are really destroying the land? I don't understand why they are killing each other just for land. The planes are back! I dig back into the dirt hoping to be safe. I hear so many people screaming it is terrifying. Hearing thousands of men screaming for their lives and then getting shot or blown up changes a worm’s life. I am at a road and I get ran over by a truck. Luckily I get stuck in the cracks on the wheel so I don't get squished. I get taken somewhere strange there are a lot more people with spikes on their head. Could this be a training camp? The ground shakes as they march in formation. I was wrong they are marching into battle. Why are these people going into battle if they don't want to fight? Do they not have a choice? Oh ok! I did not need to see that. So they torture you if you do not go into battle? Yeah I am going to go somewhere else. So I climb into the truck and it takes me into the city. I get out and it is so much different in the city. Whoa! There are a lot of lights and it is not quite as noisy as it is in the battlefield. So there is a storm and trash is everywhere, flowing into the sewer gutters. Uh oh I got sucked into the gutters. I ride a piece of trash a cup of some sort. I think I will be ok. The water level is getting very high and I am getting very worried. The cup tips over and I get pulled under water. Holding my breath as long as my little lungs can. I made it back on to the street. There are tanks rumbling the ground. I burst out laughing as one tank weighs so much when it was going over a bridge it fell into water. I wonder what it would be like if I was in the war as a human? I think it would be awful knowing that your probably going to die trying to kill people for land that you are fighting for that will be so damaged it will be basically useless. So, back to crawling. Gosh it will take me days to get out of the city without a car. I start my journey again. I feel like I am crawling very fast but in reality I am only crawling like a foot per 10 minutes. Its been a few hours and nothing exciting has happened. I find a trashcan and make my way into it to get some food to eat. Yum! A piece of sausage I have found. It is big, juicy, greasy, the best way to have a sausage. It is now morning. I wake up to another worm next to me. He says he is from the same area I am from, so we begin our day with another journey traveling out from where we originated. Every mile closer we get it gets louder. BOOM! A huge explosion has happened. I could hear it from 30 miles away and it shook the Earth. We are not sure what to expect the land to look like after a long period of war. Lets just hope it is not to bad. We get back to the land as to see that there is nothing left, the Earth has been changed. There was no sign of life on the battlefield. Until we saw that people were collecting the bodies, a different person for each country yet they were not fighting each other. So this is how the story ended Grandson. Wow I did not expect for you to have seen all of what happened during World War 1. Said the son. I did not see all it only part of it.
